Virtual Death Doula Mentorship & Case Consultation

Death doula work is deeply relational. While many programs offer certification, few provide ongoing mentorship from someone actively serving the dying.

This virtual mentorship supports new and practicing death doulas with one-on-one guidance, case consultation, and support in building a sustainable, community-centered end-of-life practice.

Mentorship is available to doulas across the United States and internationally, working within the fields of End-of-Life Care and Death Doula Practice.

Why Mentorship Matters After Death Doula Training

Many doulas complete certification programs but still feel uncertain about how to begin working with families. While training offers important foundations, the real learning often begins when doulas encounter their first clients and navigate complex family dynamics.

Mentorship becomes the bridge between completing training and gaining confidence in real-world practice. It offers space to ask questions, reflect on experiences, and receive guidance from someone who has walked this path.

Through mentorship, doulas can:

  • Begin working with their first clients with clarity and confidence

  • Navigate difficult family conversations and complex situations

  • Establish healthy professional boundaries

  • Integrate the emotional realities of the work into practice

  • Build a sustainable, community-centered end-of-life care practice

For many, mentorship is the essential step that turns training into a meaningful, grounded practice of accompanying the dying.

“Jade is an incredibly perceptive, inspiring, and compassionate guide. As a new Death Doula, mentor sessions with her have been transformative, helping me focus my efforts and prioritize my time effectively. In particular, her insights on marketing and creating an online presence have significantly shaped how I approach my practice.

Despite her extensive expertise, Jade approaches mentorship with genuine curiosity and humility, making the space feel inviting and accessible. She also has a really wonderful ability to recognize and celebrate people’s unique talents. I wholeheartedly recommend Jade to anyone seeking guidance in this field; her mentorship is truly invaluable!”

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Yes. Death doula work is deeply relational, and much of the learning happens in real-world practice rather than in training alone. Mentorship provides guidance, case consultation, and support as you navigate complex client situations, develop professional boundaries, and integrate your training into a sustainable, community-centered practice.

  • Every mentorship session is offered virtually and is $100/75-minutes. Farewell Apprenticeship graduates are always welcome to book sessions at a discounted rate.

  • If you are supporting someone at end-of-life, we can troubleshoot and resource any specific issue/concern that may be arising. Or sketch a map of how to approach your next steps.

If you are a trained doula, you can ask about your doula practice, business development, community education, or ways to strengthen your skills and confidence.

You can also bring questions about navigating end-of-life care, supporting someone you love, or understanding your own intuitive gifts in this work.

  • Sessions are 75 minutes and take place virtually. You’ll have my full attention for discussion, brainstorming, strategy, or problem-solving. After the session, you’ll leave with actionable insight and clarity.

  • Absolutely! A Guidance Hour can focus on your professional development, your personal growth, or both. We’ll tailor the time to what you need most.

  • For the students in my apprenticeship, it isn’t. This service seeks to offer 1:1 access to a professional doula to anyone whose training did not include this necessary component.

Completing training gives you foundational knowledge, but the real work begins when you start serving clients. Mentorship helps doulas translate their certification into practice, gain confidence, reflect on experiences, and handle the emotional and ethical responsibilities of end-of-life care. It’s a bridge between learning theory and building a grounded, professional practice.

  • Yes. Doulas from any training program are welcome. Farewell Apprentices receive 1 mentorship session with every curriculum unit; all additional sessions are 50% off, for life.

  • Yes. Sessions are offered virtually, so doulas across the U.S. and internationally can participate.

  • Apprenticeship involves deeper, ongoing training and hands-on practice. Mentorship focuses on guidance, reflection, and case consultation to support practicing doulas in real-world situations.

“Perhaps this knowledge of death, as a force that impinges on the individual, the community, and the cosmos, is what marks our species as, potentially, wise.”
