Death Doula Support & End-of-Life Care in Middle Tennessee

Sacred presence. Practical care. Personalized rituals. Available in person and virtually.

What Does a Death Doula Do?

A death doula offers emotional, spiritual, and practical support to individuals and families navigating the end of life. Every family’s path is unique. I offer the following services to support the dying and their loved ones with tenderness, clarity, and ritual.

End-of-Life Support Services Include:

  • “What does this mean? What do I do next?”

Gentle, trauma-informed support in the wake of a life-limiting diagnosis. As your death doula, I help you process emotions, clarify care goals, and chart a compassionate, values-based path forward.

  • “How do I get my affairs in order?”

Step-by-step guidance through advance care planning, including living wills, healthcare proxy decisions, end-of-life wishes, and legacy priorities, so your voice is honored at every stage. This includes a full plan for the vigil process (let phase of the dying process), as well as in-depth after-death record keeping.

  • “How do we get through these hard days?”

Death doula services include emotional support, practical tools, and care coordination for families and caregivers. I hold space for your grief, needs, and evolving roles throughout the dying process.

  • “We’ve tried everything, but…”

When family dynamics, medical bureaucracy, or emotional overwhelm threaten peace, I bring calm, experience, and creative problem-solving to help restore balance and connection.

  • “What exactly does hospice provide? Am I ready for hospice support?”

Clear education and active communication support to help you understand hospice services, advocate for your needs, and integrate the medical team into your spiritual and emotional care.

  • “Is this normal? What happens next?”

Gentle, clear explanations of what the body and spirit may experience as death approaches. I provide trauma-informed education to help you anticipate, understand, and feel less alone.

  • “How do we align this death with this life?”

Facilitating life review conversations, storytelling, together we create legacy projects that reflect your story. Through letters, audio recordings, photo curation, memory books, or symbolic objects, this work offers meaning, connection, and peace.

  • “How can we bring reverence into this space?”

Whether holding space for family farewells or inviting honest conversations, I help create sacred, emotionally safe environments that foster love, truth, and beauty at the end of life.

  • “Can we honor this life in a thoughtful way?”

Custom ceremony and ritual design rooted in your values—before, during, or after death. This may include blessingways, bedside altars, hand-washing ceremonies, anointing, or home funeral guidance.

  • “How can we be supported in the final moments?”

A death doula offers grounded on-call presence during active dying, providing gentle vigil support, sacred witnessing, and guidance so loved ones can stay connected and centered in the final hours. Farewell’s team of over 12 doulas means that 24/7 support is available if needed.

  • “What are our options now?”

From ceremonial body care to obituary writing and funeral planning, I offer compassionate guidance in the sacred hours and days after death. Many families invite me to act as a liaison with local funeral homes, providing concierge-style coordination and ensuring each farewell is rooted in dignity, beauty, and intention.

Why Work With a Death Doula

What to Expect When You Reach Out

A gentle guide to beginning death doula support

  • Whether you're seeking death doula services for yourself or a loved one, the first step is simple: send a message through my contact form, book a consultation using a button on this site or email me directly. Reaching out doesn’t require a plan, just a willingness to begin.

  • I offer a no-pressure, 15-minute phone call or Zoom (your pick) to discuss your situation and explore how I can help. This is a safe space to ask questions and see if working with a death doula feels right or if now is the time to begin support.

  • Our first meeting is a 2-hour in-home visit where we review medical needs, care team details, and end-of-life wishes. This foundational session gives us clarity to move forward with compassionate, personalized death care.

  • After our first visit, I’ll create a tailored care package, often including advance care planning, legacy work, vigil preparation, and after-death rituals. You choose the path and pace that fits your needs.

  • Once we begin, you’ll receive steady, compassionate support through weekly visits and 24/7 on-call availability during active dying. Together, we’ll honor this threshold with care, presence, and ritual.

Meet the Farewell Team

Farewell is rooted in the belief that death care is community care. While Jade holds primary responsibility for each client, she is supported by a circle of trained apprentices and collaborators who help ensure no one walks this path alone. Each team member brings warmth, reverence, and a commitment to heart-centered presence.
