Death Doula 101 is a 90-minute virtual mini-course designed to gently illuminate the path ahead. You’ll learn the foundations of the doula model of care, the evolving roles death doulas play today, and the most common ways people step into this sacred work. Whether you’re feeling a quiet pull or a loud calling, this is your place to begin.

Which Path Is Right For You?
Foundations
Begin at the edge of knowing. This fully virtual training path offers six rich modules in death care, paired with personalized mentorship through 1:1 guidance or seasonal group cohorts. Rooted in reverence and designed for flexible learning, Foundations opens the door to this sacred work wherever you are, inviting you into study, reflection, and the first steps of the Deathwalker’s path.
Thresholds
Where the virtual meets the visceral. This Nashville-based training path includes the same six Foundations modules, but pairs them with in-person shadow shifts at the hospice residence, sacred mentorship, and embodied presence at the bedside. Designed for local learners, Thresholds invites you to cross into this work not just with study, but with soul, skin, and sacred witnessing.
Apprenticeship
The path deepens here. Open to graduates of Foundations or Thresholds, the Apprenticeship expands your training with advanced units in hospice care, bereavement support, and after-death services. With continued mentorship, hands-on practice, and a capstone project to serve the wider community, this immersive path prepares you to meet death with devotion and skill.
